Conveniently located off highway 34, we serve Glenwood and surrounding communities, including Pacific Junction, Malvern, Tabor, and beyond. It all started with a vision from Masoode ‘Mo’ Nikseresht and his late wife, Martha Grant-Nikseresht. After immigrating from Iran, Mo graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska with his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree in 1984. After getting married, Mo and Martha moved to Glenwood, IA to begin his career and start a family. He soon started as a pharmacy manager at Medicine Chest in Red Oak, IA getting to know his patients and educating them on their medications and related illnesses before it was even a standard of care.

After Medicine Chest closed, Mo and Martha saw a gap in the community that needed to be filled. Soon, their first Medicap Pharmacy was built and opened in December of 2000 in Red Oak, IA.

Fast forward about 5 years- Martha and her daughter, Monica, would pick up breakfast at McDonalds on Sundays, and sit in the parking lot, envisioning what an empty dirt lot across the way could become. Martha knew a Medicap could serve their community better than any chain pharmacy ever could. Soon after, in 2007, that empty dirt lot became Medicap Pharmacy in Glenwood and has proudly served the community ever since.

Today, Mo and Martha’s daughter, Monica, proudly serves as Pharmacy Manager at our Glenwood Medicap Pharmacy. After seeing the positive impact her parents made on the patients they served with Mo as a Pharmacist and Martha as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Monica knew she wanted to be a part of the pharmacy world and serve patients in her community. She graduated from Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree and a Concentration in Diabetes Care in 2021 alongside her husband, Matt Burton, who serves as a Staff Pharmacist.
